I purchased this to replace the rain sensor for my La Crosse weather station. However, when I connected it up and tried to pair it with the weather station it did not work. So, I went through some diagnostics. First I checked the batteries and found them OK, then I checked the connecting pads and found the one in the battery door was missing. I simply replaced it with the one from the defective sensor and now it works. So, if you purchase this check to see there is a battery connecting pad in the cover. I don't know if Amazon reads this but if they do they should check their stock to see if others are like this. Otherwise it works fine and is a good price.

For improved awareness of current local weather conditions, add this wireless self-emptying rain bucket sensor to one of La Crosse Technology\'s 915 MHz professional weather centers. The TX32U-IT rain bucket transmits rainfall data every 6 seconds to a weather center receiver at 915 MHz from up to 330 feet unobstructed. With a total rainfall range of 0 to 393.7 inches, the rain bucket also measures 24-hour rainfall from 0 to 39.3 inches maximum. The rain sensor updates its 24-hour rainfall value hourly. To prevent water from overflowing, the rain bucket self-empties with its internal system of tilting cups. Install the rain bucket with the provided mounting hardware in a secure, flat location at least 3 feet above the ground. To ensure accurate readings, take care to avoid any overhead obstructions that might interfere with rain collection, such as tree branches and overhanging roofs. La Crosse recommends testing the rain bucket upon installation to make sure water flows out rather than collecting at the base, which could skew rainfall readings. Covered by a limited one-year warranty, the rain bucket requires the separate purchases of a compatible weather station and two AAA alkaline batteries. The rain bucket measures 5-2/3 inches wide by 2-1/6 inches deep by 3-1/2 inches high.
