(More customer reviews)I bought some of these bait chunx to rid our house of a small mouse.I did not buy the 9lb bucket as pictured,i only bought the smaller 8oz package of the TomCAt Bait Chunx but its the same product.
Typically once a year around winter we always seem to get a mouse that makes its way into our home. They always seem to set up "house" in the same area.(our heating duct in the floor).Over the years weve always have used the D-Con pellets to rid our house of the mice but this time we didnt because where the bait needed to be put was too close to our dogs food bowls.
Every morning when i wake up id see dog food chunks strung out and drug down into the heater vent. Not wanting to use D-Con pellets because of the dogs i went out and bought some of the TomCat Bait Chunx.I have never used the product before since we have always used D-Con but i gave it a try anyway.
These little chunx are pretty nice. There is a hole the runs through each chunk so you can tie the bait chunk onto any area you please so the mice cant run off with it.They really dont stink and they arent messy.I took a simple electrical wire tie and ran it through the center of the block and hung it on a nail down inside the heater duct where our dogs couldnt get to it.Within 1 hour of hanging the chunk up i noticed little pieces missing off it where the mouse was eating it.
I woke up the next morning and there wasnt any dog food strung over the floor or down in the heater vent but the bait chunk had a couple missing corners on it where the mouse was eating it.The rest of the week was the same deal when i woke up,no dog food strung out into the vent but the bait chunk hanging down inside the vent kept getting a hair bit smaller everyday. The mouse wouldnt come out into the house and eat anything else but the bait chunk i had hanging in the vent. This went on for about 6 days.
After about a week it appeared the mouse was no longer eating the bait but there wasnt any dog food strung out on the floor anymore either. No mouse turds,no nothin!!All 8 corners of the bait chunk had been eatin off by the mouse. We have not seen the mouse ever again.I havent found any dead corpses and any unusual smells coming from anywhere either. So im not sure if the mouse died outside, the mouse just left the house,or the mouse did die in the house and we just cant smell it (yet).
Conclusion--this stuff appears to work pretty good.It doesnt smell bad and it isnt messy. You can easily hang one of the chunks anywhere so the mice cant run off with it since there is a hole that goes straight through it.You could use some thin wire or just an electrical wire tie to hang it up,or possibly just hammer a nail through it.The mice will eat it and love it!I am only giving 4 stars since i really cant say what happened to the mouse but i will revise with 5 stars if i can find a corpse or the mouse sends me a letter telling me it moved to a different location :)
